How Our Pricing Works

We price based on route distance and whether your location falls on or off our regular travel path.

✅ Base Rates

• On-Route Travel: $0.75 per mile – Trips over 500 miles are discounted to $0.55 per mile beyond that point

• Off-Route Travel: $1.50 per mile

✅ Litter Discounts

• Same litter: Just $0.10 per mile for each additional sibling

• Different litters: $0.25 per mile per extra pet

We do our best to accommodate breeders and new pet parents with custom quotes for group pickups.

Pet Transport Cost Calculator Example

Let’s break it down with a few examples using Skoot’s pricing model:

🐾 Example 1: 400 miles, on-route

• One pet:

  • 400 × $0.75 = $300

• Two pets, same litter:

  • Pet 1 = $300

  • Pet 2 = 400 × $0.10 = $40

• Total = $340

🐾 Example 2: 600 miles, on-route

• The first 500 miles are charged at $0.75

  • 500 × $0.75 = $375

• The remaining 100 miles are discounted to $0.55

  • 100 × $0.55 = $55

• Total = $430

🐾 Example 3: 400 miles on-route + 50 miles off-route

• Main route (400 miles):

  • 400 × $0.75 = $300

• Off-route portion (50 miles):

  • 50 × $1.50 = $75

• Total = $375

What Counts as On-Route?

We run scheduled routes up and down the West Coast, passing through all the major cities such as:

• Sacramento, CA

• Bay Area

• Los Angeles

• San Diego

• Portland, OR

• Seattle, WA

If your pickup or drop-off point falls within a city we already pass through, that’s considered on-route pricing—meaning you’ll benefit from our standard rate without additional off-route charges.

Save More with Group or Litter Transport

Skoot is proud to serve breeders, rescues, and new pet owners who need to move multiple animals at once. We offer discounted rates for young pets under 16 weeks of age traveling together, making it more affordable to keep litters united during their journey.

• Additional pets under 16 weeks: $0.10 per mile per additional sibling

• Additional pets over 16 weeks: $0.25 per mile each

You don’t need to be from the same litter to qualify for our standard group rate—just let us know how many companions are joining the ride, and we’ll make sure each gets a safe, comfortable spot.
